i had a somewhat heated conversation with a circuit overseer , recently.

he became vehement.

in asserting that the organization had an absolute right to expel people for accepting blood transfusions.. no matter how they spin it, that is their present standard, no matter what deceptive language they use to cover it up.. in addition, they maintain local crews of elders in "visitation committees" who can monitor compliance in hospitals.. .

By the way, I am becoming more and more perturbed by the reports that I'm hearing of JWs entering the hospital under the guise of "Pastoral Care Visitation" using this as a means of gaining access to confidential patient information.

It does not suprise me in the least that they would attempt things like this. What I would find amazing is if their attempts were successful. Aren't hospitals much more strict about who can look at patient information these days? What with HIPPA and all that?

this pdf-"kit" was sent to us from a friend of ours who is an elder in england who is thoroughly disgusted.

the file is being sent throughout many congregations by email to assist the witnesses with "corrections" for their "revelation" book.

I have to say, if I was still in, I would love something like this, I'm a dork. Much classier than scribbling the changes in the margin of the book. Although the fact that "new light" was needed, would have given me some pause.

You should have seen the classy bookmarks I made for the book study back in the day, for the Daniel and Isaiah books!

Ok so if you do not feel a 15 year old is capable of making this kind of decision, then who should be making the decision for her? The state? Her parents?

I also agree that while refusing blood is a bad decision, in the end it should be up to the patient, or their guardian, to make the decision, not the doctor or a judge.

one of my sisters, a hoho, was married 27 years to an ms who has abused her mentally, emotionally, physically, and this was well-known to most everyone who knew them including family.

when she filed for divorce, i heard that our parents, other family and ex-friends yelled at and criticized her, and then the elders called her into a meeting and condemned her, i was furious.

to what extent has the growth of the "fade" been facilitated by internet forums such as this?

sure there were people who chose to fade in the pre-internet era, simply by withdrawing themselves, gradually involving themselves with non-witnesses to a greater extent, or getting in touch with other ex-witnesses covertly through the convention system/telephone and mailing support network that used to be more important before the advent of the internet.

so the "fade" is not an invention of the internet era, not en entirely "new phenomenon".

Wow, that article is so rediculous on so many levels. I don't even know where to start. The whole "community bloodguilt" concept!?!? The idea of the elders second-guessing what a legal court may decide? Yeah cause these window washers will be much better at determining whether the driver was negligent or not. And then how will they proceed?

Will there be a phone call, like this:

ring!!!
Other driver: hello?
elder: Hello there Mr. Smith, I'm brother Dumas from the local Kingdom Hall, I understand you were involved in a traffic accident with a member of our congregation, brother Clueless
Other driver: yeah the sumnabitch killed my wife!!
elder: Well, you see, even though the courts have determined that our poor brother was negligent, we, as a congregation, are looking into the matter to determine if he is bloodguilty before Jeehover. We would like to know if you could attend our judicial meeting to testify?

September KM - 70 alterations in Revelation Climax Book

i can't find a thread on this subject yet - if there is one , please delete this one.. the september kingdom ministry has a 4 page insert detailing the 70 alterations in the revelation climax book which is due to be studied at the book study shortly.

i'll provide scans if anyone is interested.. i will leave it up to more experienced analysts to examine the reasons for specific changes , but just a few brief observations for now:.

p32 box - "they were completely exonerated" changed to "charges against them were dropped" - interesting change of terminology for the 1918 watchtower eight.

Wouldn't the very existence of a four page insert of changes be a red flag for a discerning Witness?

Well, yes it would be. However I don't think there are any discerning Witnesses left at this point. And the ones that are still in, that have the mental capacity to realize that things don't just add up, have no doubt by this point, for whatever reason, decided that they will stay in, regardless of how many red flags come up.
